Travels with a Gourmet

a food lover's travels, memorable meals, culinary trials and gastronomic experiences

Yesterday was Halloween and we were invited to our niece and nephew’s lovely home outside Buenos Aires in Talar del Lago. Our five-year old son and her three-year old played football, rugby and also went trick-or-treating, while we had tea, coffee and Argentinean pastries filled with dulce de leche. It was the first time I tried “cubanitos” which are sugar-cone cigars filled with (need you ask?) dulce de leche. There were also crust-free white-bread sandwiches (sandwich de miga) with assorted fillings which are the standard tea fare here.

The afternoon went by quickly with all the catching up, story-telling and the non-stop doorbell-ringing by trick-or-treaters asking for candy. J and S had a blast too. Happy Halloween !!!
